.US Domain Registration
The dot US country-code domain was established in 1985 and assigned to the USA, but it was opened to the public in 2002. It is among the most widely used country extensions having in mind the fact that quite a few US business entities prefer to use a local domain and the US market is amongst the largest in the world. Quite a few institutions, agencies and local governments also used or still have second-, third- or even fourth-level dot US domains along with their official dot GOV domains.
We are one of the registrars offering .US registrations and your new domain will be online minutes after you order it. The registration period is between 1 and 10 years and you can also transfer an already registered domain and we will renew it as soon as the transfer process is finished and the domain is registered on our end. Through our Hepsia Control Panel interface, you will have total control over your domain – you will be able to edit your WHOIS information, to park your domain, to set up custom DNS records, and so on.
Only American citizens, residents, organizations and commercial entities can register dot US domains, so foreign entities are obliged to have a local presence, while individuals from other countries are not able to reserve such domains. To carry into effect these rules, the Registry organization that controls the TLD – Neustar, performs random checks on existing domain names. This is also the reason for this country-code top-level extension not to support Whois Privacy Protection, so the Registrant (owner) contact information will always be publicly accessible upon a WHOIS check.
