There are numerous ways to point a domain name to a different domain or subdomain and one of them is by setting up a CNAME record. In case you own a domain and you have developed a site through some on-line service that provides you with a service subdomain, you can easily link the two by setting up a CNAME record for your-domain.com that directs to subdomain.provider.com. What you are going to achieve with this is that www.your-domain.com will be in the Internet browser address bar while it opens the already mentioned site from the servers of the third-party company. It is important to know that if you create a CNAME record, any other records your domain may have will stop functioning, so you cannot have both a CNAME record directing to one provider and functioning e-mail address with a different one. The CNAME record is always an alpha string, not a number, and sometimes further configuration may be necessary with the other provider.
CNAME Records in Cloud Hosting
You can easily set up CNAME records if you have a cloud hosting service with our company. We'll supply you with an easy-to-use CP that enables you to observe all DNS records for the domain addresses and subdomains that are hosted inside the account. Setting up a CNAME record involves a number of easy steps - select the domain/subdomain, select CNAME as the type, type in the hostname you are forwarding to, then simply click on the Save button. The process is as basic as that and the new record is going to be active almost immediately. That way, you'll have more control over your domains and subdomains and over the content they open, you could set up a private URL for company emails, and much more. If you feel unsure about how to create a new record or you have never done such a task, you will find a short video tutorial in which you can see the whole process first-hand. If you choose to change or delete an existing CNAME record created for a domain/subdomain hosted on our end, it will take you literally only a click to do it.
CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
You will be able to set up, edit and delete CNAME records very easy with any of our semi-dedicated server plans. The accounts are handled from the custom Hepsia hosting Control Panel, and in one of its sections you'll see all records for every domain address or subdomain you have added in your account. To create a new record, you only need to pick the hostname that'll be forwarded (domain/subdomain), enter where it will be forwarded to, select the record type, that will be CNAME in this case, and you are going to be ready. In case you have never used a web hosting service before, our CP is extremely intuitive to use, so you'll not have any difficulties. We also have a short video and an in-depth help article on how to set up a CNAME record, both of which are available in the exact same section of Hepsia. With this function, you can easily use a domain name hosted on our revolutionary cloud hosting platform for a website created somewhere else, create a custom webmail login address with any of your domain addresses, and a lot more.
